Covonia Herbal Mucus Cough Syrup is for relief of the symptoms of coughs and colds.
Covonia Herbal Mucus Cough Syrup contains liquorice, ipecacuanha and squill which belong to a group of medicines known as expectorants. They help remove phlegm (mucus) in people with chesty coughs and colds. This medicine is non drowsy.
How to Use
Take the mixture by mouth, sipping slowly for best effect.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: Take 2 x 5ml spoonfuls every 4 hours if required.
Do not give to children under 12 years old unless your doctor tells you to.
Hazards and Cautions
Do not use the medicine if you have:
An allergy to any of the ingredients listed.
An allergy to colophony (pine resin) which is contained in some cosmetic products e.g. lipsticks and eye shadows.
Any type of heart complaint
Kidney problems
Or are under 12 years.
Talk to your doctor if you are taking:
Carbenoxolone for a stomach ulcer
Medicines which help remove fluids from the body e.g water tablets)
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breast feeding.
Important ingredient information
Contains 2.3g of sucrose per 5ml dose. To be taken into account in people with diabetes. If you have intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicineIt also contains 2.7% vol ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 214mg per 10ml dose, equivalent to 6ml beer, or 2.2ml wine per dose. Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism. To be taken into account in children, pregnant women and high risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
